It varies. A lot.
But it is very euphoric most of the time. Basically, when you're married, and are having fun with your wife, as married couples do, that is small potatoes compared to this.
It starts out with some tiredness and a woozy feeling, sometimes an odd smell. And my stomach feels weird and numb. And I find a place to sit down if I'm not already sitting. Then I have euphoria and tingling which goes from my stomach to my spine. And it rises up my spine, and when it hits my head, it spreads from the back, and when it gets to my eyes, I lose my awareness of the world around me, and a different place comes into view. And I hear words in my heart and head, which describes what I am seeing. And the sounds in that place, I hear as muffled through my ears. So, for the agricultural water sinks, I witnessed workmen building them. And then rain falling, and followed the water filling them, and saw the particles of sediments, how they fell as the water receded. And the roots of plants diving into the soil searching for water, and the aquifers rising between soil particles. That's very intense. So my description in the post is more actionable. I can't even describe all of what happens when I experience visions. I don't have adequate vocabulary. And then I come back to the world, and the light in the room has changed, so I must have been in the vision for a while, and I feel kind of drunk, and my speech is slurred.
A lot of different religious traditions talk about experiences like this. It's not unique to my religion. For example, I used to attend World Harvest Church, and Rod Parsley explained his Visions and the power of God coming upon him in this manner. And this also matches the Seerah literature when it talks about Muhammad saying he was speaking to Jibreel. This is similar to what people said, that he went still and lost awareness of the people and goings on around him. That he would sit on the floor if he was about to have a vision. And the drunken feeling and slurred speech are associated with being a Sufi Mast. They probably all had epilepsy. But, that doesn't necessarily mean that the visions are invalid. I think it's just that you have to be careful to only listen to visions which are good. There is another type which is very scary.
Solid grounding in the study of faith is required to discern good from evil. Bad smells, cold chills, dark shadows, and fear that comes from nowhere and anxiety are clear indicators of evil, but sometimes it is more subtle than that. And it is what it says that is the evil, and it will sound good, but in this case, it is required that you consider the results of the instruction, were you to follow them. Think of how it will affect others, because the devil tempts us with what is good for us personally, but is damaging to those we know and love. So the way to discern is to compare it to the teachings of love, kindness, and self sacrifice brought by Jesus the Messiah.
The difference between the evil presence and the good is very large. So I'm confident in my discernment. Having TLE may open you up to experiencing the unseen realm, but it is up to the person to take refuge in God, and call upon His Name when they are facing evil. Evil flees from Hashem.
